Sofia Yang (b. 1995, New York) is a contemporary painter based in New Jersey.

Raised between Eastern and Western cultures, Yang’s practice explores the spaces between body and mind, science and spirit, intuition and reason. Self taught as a painter, her work is informed by surrealism, mythology, spiritual traditions, yogic philosophy, and her training as a Doctor of Pharmacy.

For Yang, art has always been a way of slowing down. It’s where the noise quiets, time seems to disappear, and curiosity takes over. She believes art is not a luxury, but an essential part of being human. It preserves stories, invites reflection, and reminds us to notice the beauty that already exists around us.

Through painting, symbolic tarot, and conversation, Yang explores universal themes of longing, intimacy, grief, transformation, belonging, and the search for meaning. She approaches tarot as an extension of her artistic practice, using it as a form of visual storytelling rooted in traditions that have shaped cultures for centuries.
